Snapchat review
There are tons of social media platforms available nowadays where billions of people interact with each other every day. Snapchat is another social network which has millions of global users and in many ways this particular platform is different than most of the others like Facebook and Twitter. Snapchat is specifically designed to share your pictures and videos with your friends. However the feature that made Snapchat popular overnight is its self-destruction of those videos and pictures.
When you share a picture with your friend, you can set a timer and after that time interval the picture or video would be deleted from the receiver phone as well as from Snapchat servers. As you can anticipate, this feature makes Snapchat a popular choice for teens because they love sharing embarrassing photos. The latest version of Snapchat comes with an entirely newly built design that makes it easier for users to navigate through the app and explore its different features.
The app is available for almost all major mobile operating systems including iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and others. You can get it for free from the relevant app store and not only the app is available free of charge but you can also use it for free. After downloading and installing the app, you need to create an account to start using the app. Either you can create a new account by providing your email address or you can use your existing Facebook or Google account for login.
The account creation is a standard procedure that takes few seconds only; after successful login, Snapchat asks for your permission to access the contacts. It automatically analyzes all of those contacts and lets you know people who are already using it so you can start chatting with them and it also shows the option to invite people to Snapchat who are not using it already. However, you don’t have to be in a friend circle to start conversation with someone as you can also send ‘snaps’ to strangers.
However, most of the people change their privacy configuration from the settings menu to receive snaps from their friends only. This feature is quite similar to Skype’s “receive calls from contacts only”. When you open the Snapchat app, it automatically takes you to the camera feature where you can capture a photo or video using your front facing camera as well as rear camera. This feature makes it easier for users to grab the perfect moment instantly. From the same screen, you can navigate to other areas like activity and friends list.
There are two buttons on the bottom of screen; the square button is used to access activities from where you can see the list of people who have sent you snaps and people whom you sent snaps. The three horizontal line button is used to access contacts. Earlier Snapchat only allows users to send and receive images but now you can also send and receive text messages. The messages disappear when you close the app or leave the conversation.
